2nd week in a row that a try in the last minute or so wins the match for Connacht - Munster next Friday at 4pm in Dubarry for the championship

Seems a bit of a crazy time to play such a huge game for underage rugby in Connacht especially as its our only home game in the competition? Do these games have to be played on Fridays? I'd imagine a Saturday kick off could have got a good crowd. Ok you could make the senior game from the u20 game but it cuts into the working day of the majority of supporters even if you weren't that far from Athlone. I'd love to go if it was a Saturday and I'm sure a good crowd would travel to Athlone but a Friday at 4 in Athlone will act as a real leveller in terms of the crowd/atmosphere.

Don't know would it even be allowed under league rules but I wonder could they have ran with this game at the Sportsground at maybe 5 and if necessary push the Dragons game to 8, its not on TV anyway so doubt anyone would be too pushed and would still give the senior teams plenty of time to warm up for  kick off and could have swelled the attendance. Too late now of course but just wondering.

Are Connacht backed into a corner or is this a major PR own goal?

Was reading on another forum how the Connacht backs were bigger than the Ulster forwards.

All points towards good work being done at underage in terms of strength and conditioning and coaching. Finally there's been more investment in the academy system and it's coming to fruition. Some class players at u20 level, and if they're good enough next year, or even before that (like McKeown last year), they'll get the opportunity. They're bviously committed, following their gym programmes and bulking up right. When you look at some of the good young lads over the last few years in Munster like Nagle, Peter O'Mahony, Paddy Butler and more, they failed to kick on into the 1st team immediatley because they were too light. It looks like we won't have that problem and thats down to the hard work of the players and coaches.

I think it's Leinster in Donnybrook next week.

Match report on knockon.ie

Great stuff. The signs are good for the future of Connacht Rugby! Let's hope we will be able to transition the lads to the PRO12 smoothly... Don't want to end up like Galway hurling.

Good result. Ravenhill is a tough spot to win. We're getting consistently competitive at u 20 level.
