It would be hard to replicate the night if it happened again soon.
Not sure I agree. For a start, the race is only held every 3 years so I don't think the novelty factor wears off. Also, it was obvious that the organisers had learnt some lessons from the first time, and made some big improvements this time around. Assuming Galway gets the nod again, I would expect them to do it again, and make it even better next time. For example, I'd like to see some bigger names playing the main stage - no disrespect to Sharon Shannon, but I don't think she is the right act to headline the Saturday night.
Anyway, it's all over now, so hats off once again to the organisers. Some great publicity for Galway.
I'm not a massive boater (maybe a bloater, but that's something for another time) so I didn't realise it's only every 3 years. That's not so bad I guess.
Feels a bit greedy though

bring on 2015 i say. wish we had it every year. 10 times better than the races.
the crowd that got the volvo here were great and well done to all involved.
hopefully they might start looking for an other big event for 2013 or 2014 to fill the gap till next volvo ocean race. fingers crossed

I have to say as a blow-in, this is a pretty cool place to live and bring up children.

People are quick enough to criticise but top marks to all for bringing such a prestigious event to Galway and then putting on a good show.
I know they said the last time could be the start of something down the Docks but really hope that after this is over that the Docks can be developed into a major asset for Galway heading into the future.
It's been great BN2, hope the new marina gets built off the back of this success.
it's a class looking idea, there is an artists image of it on the ocean race booklet
