Reality also hitting home to Carr/ Hagan et al in Leinster with the WC over and the regulars back, it would be great to get them back next year!

He had changed his mind and choose to stay but was told to bugger off he was not wanted, same thing we have been doing for years.
Budget was already spent, we couldn't afford to take him back. Make no mistake about it, we wanted him back but it came down to money. Ulster messed him around, Leinster hummed and hawed so the speak, he left it too late as we had already signed a replacement. He could be back next year though, we'll see

Carr knew what he was getting himself in for. He had the choice to stay but decided to move on. It's a tough and brave decision but them's the breaks.

McSharry-Gotta say the lad has promise.Crash ball, make the yards, suck in defenders.Lot more to be said for it than the ball at times being thrown to an isolated winger.Still don't know how ref gave scrum against McSharry in 2nd half after he made 15 yards or so.
Nikora-Has a break in him but little else.
N O'Connor-Sorry just not up to it.In last few minutes he made about 4 yards when kicking penalty to touch and not much better with the next one.Has done the bizz at times but just doesn't cut the mustard.
Front row is a worry.
O'Halloran looked good at FB.Has a lovely boot on him.He made a great clearance to touch with very little space but looked like ref gave Ulster throw in from where he kicked it.Wouldn't mind seeing replay.
At one point Ulster knocked on with the line in sight and ball was touched down by Connacht.Ref gave a scrum to Connacht. Was this correct ? Ref is supposed to allow some sort of advantage and i thought because Connacht then touched down that a 22 was the result but instead a scrum was given.
Ulster have bags of talent, but must be said they made terrible mistakes yesterday but still came out 19 point winners.
Interesting to hear from the comentators that Fionn Carr was playing in B'rock v Marys yesterday. With Browne,Cronin and Hagan no where near the Leinster first team,it seems such a waste.
Camera zoomed in on some Connacht fans. One had the Green spongy Connacht BOI Index finger and also a good looking woman with black hair still shouting "C'mon Connacht" late in the 2nd half (An raibh go bhfuil tú Connacht Bo?)

O halloran was excellent at 15
Gav was missing at 13
Mcsharry was excellent in defense and began to run back at ulster in the second half, worth more gametime.
If next week was rabo pro 12 I would start thisteam.
Loughney
Flavin

Macca swift
Tj George Joc
Pod Jarvis
Mcsharry

As bad as the result was what I'm most disappointed with are the things Eric is saying. Dare I say it, but it's almost Bradley-like.

positives, O'Donahue showed more of a threat at 9, Nickora was OK at 10, I personally cannot fot the life of me understand why Jarvis was on the bench if he was not to be used at 10 !!! NOC did ok, but offererd nothing different to Nickora. I thought the pack overall played well especially in defence. McCarthy was his usual industrious self and played well. O'Halloran and Vainakolo played well. But was Touhey playing ??
I'm still not conviced with Ah-You he is a big guy but that is as far as it goes, his scrummaging is not up to Celtic league standard and he doesn't do enough in open play.
We need a shot of adrenelin before next week !! I just hope that Eric can turn this around, as for his selections this week it's obvious to me that our injury list was a little worse than we thought. He may be giving some players extra time for recovery before next weeks venture into Europe. I hope so because if that is not the case then we could be in the !!!!e !!!!

That being said, we kept going worked hard and as a whole defended well, the last try apart. Worry would be at 10 again, no control, lack of field position and poor decision making.
Scrum was a worry in the 1st half but we seemed to get it together in the 2nd half which is a positive. However we need more consistency from Rodney, we just don't know what he's going to produce. Too much Ton Buckley esque for my liking.
Positives for me would be Mike McCarthy in the 2nd row, McSharry at 12 who is worthy of a start next week, defence good and gained good ground in attack. I'd go with McSharry/Griffin in midfield. George worked very hard, Muldoon made an impact when he came on, Vainikolo looked exciting at times and O'halloran was solid.
Lets hope Swifty and O'Connor are back next week. We lacked any real devilment around the breadown until Mul came on, and we need him and O'Connor wreaking havoc next week

Slipped to 9th, just listening to EE now and his post match interview was just as poor as the lads that togged out. "3 periods of the game" "last 10mins of 1st half" first 10mins of sencond " "and last 10mins of the game". ffs eric we threw 14points away last in 4 mins after HT and another try this evening its down to YOU to sort that out............
