Luckily enough the Connacht Branch are on board with you there SP. They've been telling us over and over to make everything green and they've been pushing it themselves. Once the older stock of non-green stuff is finished I'd imagine that nothing else will be brought out (aside from 2nd/3rd sets of gear).

Good stuff Diom, it's our colour and it's the colour that is associated with us by other provinces and teams and their supporters outside Ireland so it's a part of our brand.

When you look at both Munster & Leinster marketing campaigns over the years which have both been hugely successful they tie in heavily with colour identity as part of their brands. If we want money in the till to put in place the infrastructural improvements both on and off the pitch then it's imperative that Conancht markets itself efficiently...

The added bonus is that there's a lot of emapthy for Connacht  within the support base of other provinces, so if the right Connacht product comes out (IN GREEN) then it can be sold into both the Conancht/Irish Rugby markets, this is an area that the other provinces cannot access easily...

Yep I'd agree and the Green t-shirts as well, and this is something that the Clan leadership should be challenging the Branch & Elverys about directly. It is the mouthpiece of the supporters....

Drives me crazy when you have to explain this to them, this should be implicit to both...

That's fair enough, just hope the sponsors come up with the goods frequently and make it a green poncho!

The poncho idea was discussed at a committee meeting a several weeks ago.  It was decided against at that point because some of the team sponsors will, from time to time, give out free cheap rain ponchos.  We need to go the route of making something nice like the staff wears available to the public.

With the added bonus that away fans will be in green if they're caught short and need to buy something  O:-)

These guys go green versions and will personalise, so maybe another clan logo opportunity:

www.poncho-ireland.com/

Or a more environmentally friendly option (but not available in green, ironically)

www.compostableponchos.com/

Excellent idea ummmm, good fundraising idea for the Clan!!!! I reckon at a reasonable price ...alot of those would be sold!

I was admiring these during the Dragons game last week and remarking to a fellow supporter that Elvery's needs to stock these.  There hasn't been any GREEN outerwear available to the public for purchase, and that's why you see a sea of BLACK instead of a sea of GREEN in the terraces on gamedays.  If the branch wants green in the stands, they need to get Elvery's to sell some green outerwear.

Have to say I'm really liking this seasons Presentation Tops as modelled by Tom McLoughlin our strength & conditioning coach.

Has anyone seen them in the shops or at the Sportsground franchise..??

Cows, I know what you're saying, but I can't help but be disappointed by the wording used. The facebook text is...

Good news, there will be limited numbers of the new home and training jerseys available from Friday in...

That's not good news. The keys words there are 'limited numbers'. All they had to do was say the shirts are available from Friday, that would be good news. People will find out soon enough that the numbers are limited when they find out they're too late to get a shirt.

The phrase itself is already very negative. Smart retail policy, maybe, but very negative from a fans perspective.

Unfortunately this is all down to supply and demand. If Rugby Tech dont expect to sell a huge number of Connacht jersey's in comparison to other equipment, why would they rush the manufacture of the gear.
Obviously I'd like the gear to be available before the start of the season, but we're not seen as a big enough market, to force Rugby Tech to work overtime, into getting the jersey's ready.

As for Elvery's, despite being in Galway, and been good sponsors of Connacht, they're going to promote the equipment which sells the most units.

Can't blame either company really, as they're both business's looking out for themselves. If the people of Galway, and the fans were buying Connacht gear in bigger numbers, then both Companies might change their tune

It's just the way things work

FYI...

The new official Connacht t-shirts and polos are finally in-stock at Elvery's.  Picked up mine from the Eyre Square store earlier this evening.  Jerseys still a few weeks away, though.

same thing happened last year. Was very late. Should be in selfs before pre season. Also last time the sizes weren't that big

And for a few years before that, at least this year they have managed to get the images out before season start. Hopefully they can get themselves sorted and take advantage of the momentrum that is gathering behind Conancht Rugby this season. Even in a recession there's money to be made... :)
