No you were right first time. 3g is only suitable for rugby training and some amateur matches, not professional level. 4g have added padding below the actual pitch surface itself (think about 2 1/2 inches shock absorbent material). Saracens is 4g.

Saracens were first rugby team to install this earlier this year. Very expensive but much cheaper to maintain and should result in fewer injuries. Visiting players seem to like it. Have been watching our boy Craig playing at Waikato stadium this season. Surface looks incredible. Apparently its a mixture of natural and synthetic turf.

Work is expected to start in early june at a cost of 400k.

A new chapter in PRO12 history approachs. I expect glasgow and zebre to follow suit. I personally like the look of sarries one and all feedback ive seen has been positive. Will definately be an advantage though. Imagine glasgow at home on one of these. Thoughts?

Definitley the team that needed it most. CAP pitch can become an absolute nightmare for games. Good to see.

Wouldnt liked to see it introduced at ours mind. We've got one of the finest pitches in Europe when you consider the stress it must experience from our not so generous weather.

Biarritz need one of these pitches too...
