Its what replaces the Anglo-Welsh Cup for English clubs. Basically reinstating a Premiership only English Cup.....
But there is restrictions on players, gives squad players games and I think will run during international periods.
I don't believe there are any specific player restrictions, but it is a domestic Cup Comp and is down the list of importance to League & HEC so added to International callups many clubs will rest first line players and blood development players and run out players coming back from injury (like Aly last night). Not clear though what flexibility clubs have in respect of squads name, if they can beef them up as final knockout games approach in March...

Dawai came on last 25, was quiet enough until last 5 when he carried more inside the 22. Had a good start to the Mitre10, hope he gets picked up.
Never in doubt, Waikato 36 - 13 Otago.
Well done Sevu and Nathan, some nice rugby

Sevu Reece ('former player' as he had contract signed and interested in his career) is about to play the Championship final in Mitre10 in 10mins. Live on Sky Sports vs Otago where Naulia Dawai is on the bench. Nathan White is assistant coach to Jono Gibbs for Waikato
Sevu has scored 4 trys in semi final vs Northland last weekend. Last round game, the week earlier, Waikato played Otago in Hamilton and the home team lost as Sevu was suspended for one match.
Reece is currently the outstanding player in New Zealand provincial rugby, leading the Mitre 10 Cup in tries scored (12), defenders beaten, clean breaks and offloads.
Sevu has also asked to be taken out of consideration for the Duane Monkley Medal, awarded to the best Mitre 10 Cup player of the year," Lendrum said.
Which he was leading and would of won
