Delighted for the Big Lug, been consistently one of the best back five forwards in the country fo the last two seasons. Every confidence when called up he will deliver in spades....

Major congrats to Macca. A proper call up, unlike the RWC run outs.

here's hoping he gets more than the 2 minutes they used to give Cronin while he was a Connacht player.

Congrats to Macca on making the match day squad, will be a very proud day for all of us to see him togging it out for the national team.

I thought he was decent on Saturday, but I suspect a lot of that was down to one noteworthy break. My thinking on Darcy is more a general one - I just don't think he has what it takes anymore at international level, so I'd like to see us trying something/someone new. I guess you could argue Kidney did that briefly on Saturday by moving Bowe to the centre.

Trying something new would have been calling Darren Cave up, who was having a great season. But his injury put paid to that.

Agreed he seemed to be back to his best form, but he seems to always manage to get injured just as he looks like he's ready to make his international breakthrough...

I think that Shaun Edwards had a very good point when he pointed out that the Welsh backs were nealry 8kg heavier than the Irish ones. George North for one bullied over the line more than once. I think we need a back like Downey who has that muscle and physicality to hit back. Kidney doesn't like him because his attacking is to straight forward but he is the best defender of backs I've seen in a long time.

It comes down to the Linkball strategy again. Play him in a system were we can make the use of his physicality and defensive work we've plenty of other backs to shimmy and be creative.

Ya i started the Chabal to Leinster an McGahan leaving threads and somebody had a little dig but i dont care. The forum is for other rugby rather than Connacht related stuff. If they dont like anything other than Connacht related stuff they dont have to look on here.

Gotta agree with you Facecutter everytime I see a "Who cares?" comment on the Other Rugby treads I just think what a moron. To be frank I think the moderators ought to come down hard on it and stamp it out now.

Someone saying that they don't care about Chabal going to Leinster is not something a moderator needs to intervene in. Tell the poster who posted it (as has happened here)... we are all pretty reasonable (except for Ummmm obviously :P ) and so these things should be sorted out openly. I would only get involved if people are having full-on meltdowns.

In future anyone who has a problem with the moderation of the board, please PM me or SP and/or start a NEW thread in the Ideas and Feedback forum (perhaps PM me as well to bring my attention to it). You can also use the report feature.
However please do not back-seat moderate in the actual thread. This just leads to flame-wars and bad feeling.

It's OK Ummm we just look at you as the elderley spinister Aunt coming to visit bringing stale biscuits or mouldy chocolates. Never quite sure what she's going to say, what she means or who she's actually talking to.... ;) :silly:
