Denis Buckley has been consistently excellent this year. He gets my vote.

The format will be the same as last year, a single poll with the highest place player eligible for YPOTY getting that award (unless there's nothing between them at the end and we need to go to a run off poll).

In that case I'd say it may come down to Henshaw, Marmion, and Roux for young player.

I'd pick Quinn Roux myself.

I've been impressed with Quinn Roux's work. Between him, Aly and Matt for me but I'll probably go with one of the forwards. They do most of the work anyway.... ;)

For what it's worth, I think Marmion is still our top young player, we've maybe gotten a bit used to the level of professionalism he brings to the game. he has some tough competition tho.

What are the criteria for young player of the season?

Max age?
Player on an academy, development, or first year of senior contract at start of season?
What did we decide on last year?

Matt and Aly for me

although there's still time for other players to come into the reckoning and make an impression in the next few games

Buckley has been massive this year. Matt has been dangerous with ball in hand.

Mul has had an epic epic season.

So many big performances, Masterson has really impressed, Niyi has been great (even though he hasn't played the minutes). Leader has been enough solid under pressure.

Gonna be a tough call this year.

Aly or Matt. Not sure who to go for.
Aly has been great recently

Think Buckley and Danie deserve some mention as well

@ConnachtCows - Always looking for new followers :)

Time to start getting together a shortlist for this years awards. It's going to be tougher than the last few seasons as there's been no real standout player, but there have been quite a few exceptional performances all across the squad.

To get the ball rolling here are my top contenders:

Tom McCartney
Aly Muldowney
John Muldoon
Bundee Aki
Robbie Henshaw
Matt Healy
