The Accommodation Section was reproduced on the site. I think that the idea was that everyone contributing to the guide would add their own section to the site as well. I will see what I can do about getting it linked to from the site proper as well.

Raising this topic from the dead.

Last year we created a Visitors Guide which we was passed around and given to some travelling teams. We thought it had been posted on the Visitors Guide section of the site, but I don't believe it ever was (or posted here, even).

So: enclosed a printable Connacht Clan Visitors guide.

Took some time while waiting for Leinster Munster yesterday to get up a little google maps thing including some hotels/hostels/pubs and the Sportsground.

Any ideas for additions? Also, anyone know anything about trying to get a labeled print out of a map for ease of printing for our English/French/Italian [strike]victims[/strike] visitors?

I've added an accommodation guide I've been working on to the main site. It's just hostels at the minute but I guess that most rugby travellers will be most interested in that end of the market... or B&Bs which will be the next section.

Anyone else have any input on this? The clan are looking to have this together in the next week or two.

Seeing as most visitors will want to watch the other HC matches while they're here, maybe we should have a separate section for 'sports bars' that have big screens and will definitely be showing the matches?

Bars - Hell this really depends. Got the obvious ones. But hidden gems tourists might not get to would be bars down the West I suppose. Massemo's , Blue Note, Beirhouse, Roisin.

Tourist Attraction - I love the atlantaquaria.

Insider info - The walk around woodquay over the Salmon Wier, through NUIG, up to Dangan.

All I can think of at the moment. Will add more if anything comes to mind.

The Connacht Visitor's Guide was created by Diom
Hello All,

So before the season gets underway, we would love to make sure that we have all our ducks in a row. One of the aforementioned ducks is a Visitor's Guide to Connnacht/Galway. In order to make it something different and unique we want the perspective of the people on this forum to make up the backbone of what we produce.

This topic will be made a sticky and I will update the second post with all of the latest info garnered from replies in this thread. We will also periodically pull this info into a PDF document to be published on our website for visiting fans to print-off and take with them when they are coming to visit. So can you all let us know:

  • Your favorite bar(s) and how you would classify them (family, music, night-on-the-lash etc...)
  • Your favorite hotel/hostel etc...
  • Your favorite tourist attraction
  • An bit of insider info on Galway/Connacht
  • Anything else you think would be useful (we'll cover travel, general info, emergency etc... but if you think we may not think of something go ahead...)
